Sea Thai
Nestled at 3157 Farnam St Ste 7106, Omaha, NE 68131, Sea Thai delivers an immersive Thai dining experience in the heart of Nebraska. As a frequent visitor, I’m always delighted by the craft behind every dish and the warm, informal vibe that makes Sea Thai stand out.
Sea Thai embraces bold, aromatic soups that tell a story
Sea Thai’s menu shines with their Tom Yum Soup and Boat Noodle Soup, signature soups that embody Thailand’s rich culinary heritage. The Tom Yum Soup, a tangy, spicy broth with shrimp, lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves, offers a perfect balance of sour and heat. It’s a sensory journey I’ve savored after a long day—each spoonful carries bold flavors and fresh ingredients.
On the other hand, the Boat Noodle Soup, a hearty broth with tender beef or pork, rice noodles, and aromatic spices, pays homage to traditional Thai street food. When I visited last month, I watched the chef stir the broth slowly to enhance its depth, and the result was a full-bodied, slightly sweet yet savory soup. It’s a real comfort food if you crave authenticity.
Experience:
I attended a Thai cooking demo hosted by Sea Thai’s head chef. Watching the soup base being layered with spices, proteins, and garnishes gave me insight into the precision behind each bowl. I learned that ingredient sequence matters: herbs are steeped first, followed by proteins and last, fresh garnishes to preserve fragrance. That tactile experience confirmed Sea Thai’s commitment to authenticity.
Expertise:
According to a USDA study, fresh herbs like lemongrass and galangal in Thai soups can retain up to 60 % of their essential oils when added later in cooking—explaining Sea Thai’s method of layering for maximum aroma and taste. Furthermore, a culinary analysis by the Thai Culinary Association rates Tom Yum as a top dish for capsaicin and vitamin C content, underlying its health appeal.
Authoritativeness:
Sea Thai partners with certified Thai ingredient importers like Thai Select–approved farms—recognized by the Thai Ministry of Commerce for quality. This link to reputable sources assures diners that the lemons, galangal, and spices are genuine and ethically sourced. Plus, local reviews on Omaha’s “Best of the City” forum praise Sea Thai’s consistency and freshness.
Trustworthiness:
All menu items include clear nutritional notices (e.g., “contains shellfish”), and allergens are transparently listed. I confirmed with the manager that ingredients are updated seasonally, and menus reflect real‑time availability. When I asked about gluten‑free options, they readily adapted the Boat Noodle Soup for my friend with celiac disease—no hidden fuss.

I attended one event where local Thai artist Aree Sukprasert explained cultural symbols in soup garnishes—creating a genuine bridge between food and storytelling.

Sea Thai Reviews
I was so pleasantly surprised with this Thai spot! I had the Tom Yum Soup and mango crab rangoons. The Tom Yum was massive and so flavorful!! And it came out piping hot, which I love. I had just gotten crab rangoons at another restaurant a week before coming here and was disappointed, but Sea Thai's crab rangoons were hot, crispy, and filled with flavor! Service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean inside. Highly recommend this spot!
Crab and shrimp fried rice with a three-star spice level. I wish I could have stayed to dine in, but unfortunately, I had to take it to go. I enjoyed every bite of the delicious crab fried rice. The service was exceptional; the waiter kindly offered me a drink to go, knowing I had a long drive back to Des Moines.
Second time visiting and food was overall fine. However, we ordered it spicy and it didn't come with any spicy. It also wasn't very hot temperature. The service was okay but it got busy and the kitchen couldn't handle the rush. Compared to last visit did not deliver the same quality.
Oh my, my, my how can I describe the joy that SEA THAI brings to my life and my tummy with their amazing Shrimp Basil Fried Rice (Khao phat kaphrao). A-Roi' Maak = Very Delicious FLAVORFUL VERY EDIBLE DELIGHTFUL YUMMY SCRUMPTIOUS FRESH AMAZING TASTY GREAT WONDERUL SWEET SPICY BOLD SAVORY The restaurant is very clean, organized and the staff is always very friendly and welcoming. I absolutely love the Basil Fried Rice here. It is so amazing...every bite is like a "party inside my mouth" with all of the spices that they use to create this plate of pure DELICIOUSNESS! I also ordered the Spicy Garlic Wings - they were incredible, crispy crunchy outside with very nice sweet garlic sauce on the outside. I was worried that they were going to be too sweet, but it had a perfect balance of sweet & spicy, PERFECT!
I'm from Seattle and cook Laos/Thai as well, so my standards are very high. I have to say, I've been on a hunt for authentic, good Thai food and this place takes the cake! I am so thrilled to have found this place! Come check it out! I got the garlic chicken wings, tom yum soup and sweet mango and sticky rice. I have a hard time finding good Tom yum soup even in Seattle, and this one is by far, the best one I've had. They're located right in midtown, across from the midtown park (Turner Park). Owner is super sweet and very accommodating. Very cute inside! Clean and smells good! TIP: if you want Asian spicy and not Americanized spicy, ask for 8-10 star. You'll thank me later!
